XII - The Hanged Man

Dangling by one ankle from a noose, the Hanged Man speaks of enforced sacrifice. He reminds us to pause and reflect, and that it’s okay to go one step back to move two steps forward. It is the card of reflection, one that reminds us that it is good to take the time to look back at where you have come from to where you are now. The difference is huge, and this card serves as a reminder that you can do this. He tells us to let go of what isn’t and accept what is and that the sacrifice will be worth it.

Ill versed he shows that our unwillingness to make the effort required means that our sacrifice will be useless. If we don’t make the effort then we are doomed to failure and will suffer for our inaction.

This card deals more with the mental and spiritual planes than the physical, and can indicate that the best approach is not always the most obvious one. Pause, reflect, and regroup. We go again.
