IX - The Hermit

The Hermit speaks to us of illumination from within. He reminds us that in the chaos of life, he who looks inside for the answers to his problems will find them. The Hermit chooses solitude and seclusion, withdrawing from life so that he can reflect and emerge renewed. Patience is required, and a period of introspection will always reveal the solution to your problems.

The card is a signal of maturity, of the wisdom gained through painful experience. It tells us that one is in a position to offer advice and help to those around you, but you must be prudent and exercise caution. You will require solitude to recharge, and must master the art of observing the problems of others whilst not absorbing yourself in them.

Ill versed, the card gives us a warning and some advice. It speaks of frustration at a seeming lack of progress, and discontent that you are not getting where you are going fast enough. The key element of the Hermit is patience and reflection. You are the only one on your path, and only you can affect the outcome of your journey. You are where you need to be. Fear not, for the universe is with you.
